I also try to keep my PC pretty humble so as I add things throughout the years, every so often I do a big clear out and these are some of my all time faves - figurals, some with secrets, dates, all have meaning to me so they will be sent to the buyer with all my love and joy and happy memories : )
ABOUT:
I love jewelry with words. And this one is a wax seal ring, written in reverse and meant to be stamped on wax to seal correspondence. It reads "Adieu" or "Goodbye / Farewell".
Excuse me one moment while I burst into song... "So long! Farewell! Auf Wiedersehen! Goodbye! Adieu, adieu to you and you and you!" (Sound of Music... I mean how can you not?!)
Ahem, now back to the ring. The intaglio gemstone is bezel set and appearing as an opaque white stone. Interesting color - these are referred to as white agate or white carnelian, both of which are in the chalcedony quartz family.
This one has beautiful scrolled shoulders and is set with an opaque white stone. The gemstone has a striking look with its interesting color - these are referred to as a white agate or white carnelian, both of which are in the chalcedony family.
No hallmarks remain but tests at 14k gold with some 10k gold spots.
Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5
The ring face is about 7mm north south. It stands off the finger at 3mm. Weight is 1.6 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Surface wear to the intaglio as expected but still legible. A few ripples at one shoulder and the opposite shoulder appears to have a repair inside or reinforcement, thus the 10k testing area probably, but it was well smoothed and not visible on the outside of the ring while wearing.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
